For Korean Short Ribs:
(5 lbs of ribs)
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Soy Sauce
1/3 Cup water (can replace water with Soju for slightly different flavor)
2-4 Tablespoons black pepper
2-5 Tablespoons sesame seed oil
2-5 Tablespoons crushed or minced garlic
(optional) 1-2 teaspoons MSG
Rinse short ribs under cool water to wash off particulates.
Mix marinade into bowl
Put 4-6 ribs into marinade and rub in marinade into meat
Put ribs into storage container
Repeat for rest of ribs.
Let marinate for at least 2 hours (2 days is best)

This is the best recipe ever, it sounds weird but just try it.
Use I cup of bottled terriaki sauce
I cup of prune juice (dont make that face!)
marinate over night
add I cup water and
I Tablespoon of peppercorns
cover and cook on the stove top or in the oven for three hours. I also add shredded carrots to it just for color. You will be amazed!
At the Asian store they sell the ribs that's already marinated really easy pan fried them or throw it on a BBQ grill cook really fast.

BEEF SHORTRIBS SUPREME
3 lbs. beef shortribs
2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 c. catsup
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. prepared mustard
Brown ribs on all sides in a large skillet (do not add oil or shortening). Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour. Drain off pan drippings. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over ribs. Cover tightly, and cook over low heat 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Yield: 4 to 6 servings.

The key to success with short ribs is BRAISING. cooking them in liquid, at a low temp. for 2-3 hours.
They have a great ';beefy'; flavor, and are very tender when cooked properly.
dredge them in seasoned flour (salt,pepper,garlic powder will do fine). brown them in a heavy dutch oven or casserole dish with a tight fitting lid, using about 2 tbs. oil.
when browned on all sides, remove to a platter. add 2 chopped onions, 2 celery stalks,chopped, 2 bay leaves, 2 tbs. tomato paste, sautee for about 4 or 5 minutes. add 1 cup of beef stock %26amp; 1 cup of red wine. put ribs back into pan, cover %26amp; bake at 275 for about 2 - 21/2 hours. serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes. salad. enjoy
